Central Park
The orange conical sections protect the base plates for "The Gates" by Christo and Jeanne Claude going up in two weeks.
As you can see from the water stains, it is an original Frank Lloyd Wright design. (he was notorious for not caring too much about things like proper waterproofing)
I thought this was a clever way to display postcards.
The Reservoir, Central Park
If you look closely at this picture, you can see the loudest wildlife in the Rambles section of Central Park, the wily Construction Bobcat resplendant in it's safety yellow paint scheme.
New York's finest chainsawing a hole in the ice of a Central Park pond, we think for training, as there weren't any news vans around.
Extremely rare American Elms. I can see why they are missed so.
If you look very closely, you can identify this squirrel as a New York Grey squirrel, as it is in fact giving me the finger. Behind him is a public skating rink in central park.

So after walking from 79th down to 12th, we were dog tired and took the Subway to the Financial District.
From the end of the line we took the free Staten Island Ferry out and back, it gives a good view of the city, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty
